Commissioning Workshop (2017-05-11)
Date: Thursday, 11 May 2017 (i.e. day before the RAS meeting on LSST)
Time: 10.30-17.00 (coffee from 10.00)
Location: RAS, Burlington House, London
Organisers: Bob Mann and George Beckett
Objectives
The aims of this meeting are to facilitate the incorporation of ideas from the UK LSST community into the planning of LSST's commissioning period and for the UK LSST community to learn more about what it will be able to do with LSST commissioning data. This will help shape the Phase B proposal, both in terms of seeking funding for the development of software analysis tools that will be required for doing early science with commissioning data and understanding what DAC facilities would need to be in place at the start of Commissioning.
The programme still needs to be finalised, but it will include plenty of time for discussion - both together and in break-out groups by science area - as well as including a summary of the /wiki/spaces/COL/pages/41287682 that will have taken place a few weeks earlier.
Preparation
Please read the wiki page on LSST Commissioning Plans as preparation for the workshop.
Attendance
We need to know numbers for catering, so please sign up on the Participants page by noon on Monday, May 1st if you plan to attend. In the unlikely event that we approach the capacity of the RAS Lecture Theatre we will have to close registration before that time.
Code of Conduct
We are currently trialling a code of conduct for LSST:UK Meetings. Since this has not been formally adopted by the Consortium, we can only request that you agree to be bound by its terms, but we do request that you do, so that we can gain experience of operating meetings under the terms of the code. So, please read the current draft code and let Bob Mann know by the start of the meeting if you do not agree to being bound by the terms of the code for the duration of this workshop.
Under the terms of the draft code, we have identified two Meeting Points of Contact who may be consulted (face-to-face or by email) should any problems arise during the workshop. The two MPoCs and their contact email addresses are as follows: Isobel Hook (lsstukmpoc1@gmail.com) and Steve Warren (lsstukmpoc2@gmail.com).
Any questions you have about the Code of Conduct generally should not be addressed to the MPoCs - who are just aiding its implementation and are not responsible for its definition - but, rather, to the meeting organisers, or any member of the Executive Group present at the meeting.
