Prep

Structure

  • Matt to start with 5min summary of the TDE watch process

  • Free-form reactions and opinions

  • Respond to some specific questions

  • Make suggestions for what can be done

  • We will record major outcomes but not all the detailed discussion

Some questions from Roy

(1)Redshift (sherlock z and photoz) are sometimes available for the host. Why not used in the query?

(2) Did we get it right on the new features? (see https://lasair-iris.roe.ac.uk/schema). Are they useful?

  • moving averages of difference magnitudes

  • most recent and 2nd most recent delta-mag/delta-T for g and r

  • Number in light curve with good quality and brighter than reference in last 7 days, 14 days, and whole light curve

  • Value of g-r on most recent night when both were available, and JD for that

(3) How are you getting the results of this streaming query? Is it

  • Run the query every day by clicking the web page?

  • Run the query every day by API

  • Get emails when a candidate is found

  • Fetch the stream digest every day

(4) Will you want to get real-time Kafka results that we will have soon?

(5) Can you shift over from lasair to lasair-iris?

(6) Do you want to annotate objects in some way? If so, what kinds of annotation? How can we avoid building a full-blown marshal system?

(7) Do you want group ownership of query/watchlist? Or another kind of group ownership? How much of a priority is this?
