Rubin and LSST information slides

Here is a set of slides describing the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, the Legacy Survey of Space and Time and the LSST:UK consortium.

It includes the basic information and description of the facility and survey and an overview of the UK’s role. There are up-to-date links on the timeline for the start of scientific operations and the first data releases. There are also descriptions of how you can become an LSST data rights holder in the UK and how to access LSST data.

The LSST:UK project scientist @Stephen Smartt is responsible for keeping this set of slides accurate and up to date. @Stephen Smartt is willing to give a zoom talk to UK astronomy groups and departments (and in person if time allows for travel) based on these slides. An alternative is for your local expert or knowledgable person to give the talk and @Stephen Smartt can do a zoom Q&A afterwards. Contact us if you would like to explore these options.

The slides and content are aimed at the beginner level, to encourage as wide use and exploitation of LSST data in the UK as possible.
