Introduction

The 2021 LSST:UK All hands meeting will be virtual, with 3 half-days. The emphasis is on inclusivity, communication and increasing involvement. The invited talks will be relatively short (15mins), and we will have breakout parallel sessions to facilitate discussions.

We have a number of ways that you can participate actively - 5, 10, or 15min speaker slots, or attending the parallel discussion sessions. These will be relatively informal, aimed at open discussion and broad involvement.

LSST:UK All Hands 2021 meeting : Programme

Call for contributions

We welcome requests for contributions and have different options available for request

  1. 15min contributed talk in the main session : appropriate content would be scientific plans, follow-up programmes, maximising UK science gains from LSST and other UK facilities
  2. 10-15min contributed talks in the GatherTown parallel sessions : similar content to the above, with more of a focus on the parallel topics
  3. Flash talks and 1-slide posters : we welcome early career researchers, including PhD students, to contribute a 2-3minute "flash talk" based on 1 slide. This should advertise their work and relevance to Rubin and LSST. These flash talks will be be scheduled in the GatherTown parallel sessions, and the 1-slide posters will be pinned there to encourage interaction.

Meeting Points of Contact

For all LSST:UK meetings there are two Meeting Points of Contacts (typically, one female and one male)  to whom attendees may report any concerns they have regarding the behaviour of other attendees, given the LSST:UK Code of Conduct. They may be approached in person, or called via a Skype Number, which they will have redirected to forward to their own mobile phone for the duration of the meeting.

For the All Hands Meeting, the MPOCs and their Skype Numbers are:

Contributed talks

We are soliciting requests for contributed talks . To request a contributed talk:

  1. Send an email request to LUSC-CONFERENCE@jiscmail.ac.uk
  2. Ensure the subject reads  “LSST:UK All Hand 2021 contributed talk request (Surname)"
  3. Include your name, institute, position in the email.
  4. Include
    1. Title
    2. Time request - you can request  a slot time of 5 mins (flash talk), 10 mins or 15 mins.  The flash talks may be just to introduce yourself, or give a short update on your work or plans. The 10 and 15min
    3. Which session - you can ask to talk in the plenary or in a parallel breakout session. We envisage all the 5 min flash talks to be in the parallel breakout sessions, most of the 10min talks to be in the parallel breakout sessions. The 15min contributed talks could be either, we leave it for you to decide who your think is your target audience.  Please note "Plenary" or "Parallel" when you submit.
    4. Maximum 200 word abstract

We are particularly encouraging the short flash talks, as update of your work and advertising who you are and what you are planning. We hope these will inspire discussion in the breakout sessions.

We hope that we can facilitate everyone who would like to give a talk, depending on demand.
