Data processing from the Data Rights application
Some of the information that LSST:UK collects through the Data Rights application process has to be transferred to the Rubin Observatory regarding data rights holders. There is a page in the form that asks candidates to provide consent for the transfer of personal data to the Vera C. Rubin Observatory and the subsequent publication of that data on public LSST:UK and Rubin websites. This is mandatory for progression with the application.
The list of fields that are transferred to the Vera C. Rubin Observatory is:
Institution Name
Title (e.g., Dr., Prof., Mr.)
Name (Last Name, First Name)
First Name
Last Name
Email
Postal Address
Status (PI, JA, Builder,…)
Mentor Name (Last Name, First Name)
Science Interest
Science Collaboration
Start Date (YYYY-MM-DD)
End Date (YYYY-MM-DD)
Submit Update (YYYY-MM-DD)
From this information, the publicly displayed IDRH list contains:
Program (Rubin code: UKD-UKD)
Country
Full Name
Institution
Status (PI/JA)
Mentor (if JA)
Program Count (to track number of PI/JA slots used of allowance)
Science Interests
Science Collaboration Memberships
The title field in the application form when applying for Data Rights is a drop-down menu created to mirror the options and formatting required when transferring data to the Rubin IDRH list. That list is (Dr., Prof., Ms., Mrs., Mr., Assoc. Prof.). We have chosen to add the options Mx., Miss., and a blank option to reflect the diversity of titles applicants may have. Please note that if choosing any of those three options, the title field will be left blank upon transfer to Rubin Observatory, but we will retain the title of choice in our internal records.
If you have any questions or concerns about the above, please contact the LUSC Project Manager Laura Moran (l.moran@epcc.ed.ac.uk).
